Members of Barnsley u3a were entertained at their Picnic in the Park by several of their music groups.
Chair of Barnsley u3a, Alan, says, "Barnsley and District u3a held a Picnic in the Park as part of a quadruple celebration on the afternoon of Wednesday 1st June. In addition to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and the National u3a’s 40th Anniversary we also recognised the conclusion of Bu3a’s 25th Anniversary year and acknowledged that it all coincided with National Volunteering Week.
"Despite the uncertain weather over 100 members attended and were entertained by four of our brilliant music groups. Starting with the ‘Stringalongs’ ukulele group we then listened to ‘Flutes Galore’, The Guitar Group and a finale presented by the wonderful ‘Old Blowers’ brass band.
"In between all that we had a ‘Royal’ quiz with the prize of a Bu3a pen awarded to the winner.
"Members brought their own chairs, tables, food and drink and had an excellent afternoon with no rain appearing until we had just finished returning to our cars.
"A great time had by all and a great advert for Bu3a and the u3a movement generally."
