u3a gives you opportunities to develop your interests, make new friends and have fun.
There are more than 1,000 u3as across the UK. Each u3a runs interest groups, chosen and run by the members, on a wide range of subjects - both for learning and to keep active. Members form interest-based communities, where they learn from and with each other, not for qualification but the joy of learning. The subjects are wide-ranging - from Architecture and Biology to Yoga and Zoology - and each u3a runs a variety of different groups and activities.
If you're already a member of your local u3a, there are other ways to get more involved in u3a.
As a volunteer led movement, many members generously give their time to support the work of the Trust. If you are interested in a volunteer role with the Trust please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information.
We also run a programme of learning activities such as photography challenges, memory banks, competitons in creative writing and poetry. Read more about these on our Learning Activities page.
