Sharing the Skill of Calligraphy

Published : 26 October 2022 Views: 4061

A man in a blue and black striped jumper is sitting at a desk in his home. The desk is slightly slanted and there are pens on it. The man is holding one pen above a piece of paper with ink on it, and is looking directly at the camera.

Ravenshead u3a member Alexander is the latest u3a member to share his skills as part of u3a's partnership with Specsavers.

Together, the organisations have created the #GenerationWOW campaign in which members demonstrate the basic steps of a skill; so far members have shown how to get started in flower decorating, laughter yoga and cooking.

In the latest video, u3a member Alexander talks you through the basics needed to write any letter in the foundational calligraphy script. He then goes on to show how this can be used to make name places for a party or your own birthday cards.

The campaign reflects the skills and knowledge of older adults and the benefits of sharing skills between generations.

Watch Alexander's video, and see previous videos, on the Specsavers hub.

For an upcoming video, e are looking for members to share life hacks - whether that's how to be more environmentally friendly, easy ways to clean your home or DIY tips around the house. If you think you could help us, or if you have any other skills you would like to share,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
