This Volunteers Week, we are celebrating the volunteers who make up the u3a movement
This Volunteers Week, we are celebrating the volunteers who make up the u3a movement.
Volunteers Week, which runs from 1-7 June 2022, is an annual opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers across the UK. We are using this week to highlight the incredible contribution that u3a members make to their u3as and communities.
The first day of Volunteers Week falls on Picnic in the Park where u3a members have organised events to come together and celebrate the Queen's Jubilee and the u3a 40th Anniversary. It is an example of the incredible things that happen due to u3a members sharing skills and ideas with each other.
The u3a movement is made up of local u3as, which have committees of members and interest groups chosen and run by the members themselves. The incredible things that happen within the u3a movement are due to members volunteering their time, skills and knowledge. Everyday, they bring people together to learn, strengthening local communities.
During Volunteers’ Week this year we will be sharing stories from current u3a volunteers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
