The UN Climate Change Conference COP27 takes place in Egypt this month and a delegation from u3a will be hosting a workshop at Climate Reality Europe–Team UK COP27 FORUM+ at the London Business School on 12 November.
u3a's 'Countdown to COP' group has been invited by the Climate Reality Project – founded by former US Vice President Al Gore – to work with students from the University of Warwick and the London Business School in a workshop to develop a model for intergenerational climate dialogue.
The aim of the workshop is to understand how the generations can work together, learning from and supporting each other to combat climate change. At the heart of the u3a-led Intergenerational Climate Justice Workshop is the question, ‘What are the issues and how do we talk about them?’
Brenda Ainsley, a co-leader of the Intergenerational Climate Dialogue and a member of u3a's Countdown to COP group, said: 'Working in partnership with students from the University of Warwick and the London Business School, we will use the workshop to collect valuable data to produce a unique model of how the generations can work together in a supportive learning environment, to address the most important issue of our time.
‘This will be made available to u3as, universities and schools next year.'
Throughout the day-long event there will climate cafes, Climate Fresk activities and a Forum Discussion with an inspiring schedule of keynote speakers.
Members from across the u3a movement are invited to take part. Read more and get your tickets here.
