Heron takes on more than it can swallow!
I came down to make a cup of tea early one morning and looked out onto our small raised pond that contains a couple of large gold fish. Not quite believing what I saw, I grabbed my camera and took this photo: a heron had perched on the edge of the pond, grabbed one of the large gold fish and was trying to swallow it, with little success! Seeing me from the corner of its eye, the heron dropped the fish and flew up to perch on my neighbour's roof, eyeing the scene below. I rescued the fish from the floor and popped it back into the pond. It lived for quite a few years after its shocking experience.
