Made Beautiful with the passage of time

We were on a small group holiday in Mull, and as we drove back to the hotel, we noticed these "retired" fishing boats on the shore. As we enjoy photographing crumbling structures we went back the next day to spend more time examining them and capturing some images. As we were doing so, we pondered how many years since they had been used, and what stories they might have experienced, if only they could tell us. It will forever remain a mystery.

My walking boots are so old I cannot date them, but they are really 'worn'

Travelling through Namibia, stopped a rest station called Solitaire and found this amazing old van. Apparently the owner of the rest station collects all derelict vehicles in the Namib Desert and displays them for tourists to explore. Brilliant recycling.

I have had this bear, called Mr Tubby, since I was a child. He has been with me through my many life journeys, always constant, never critical. I love him unconditionally, which, given his threadbare state, is just as well.

A worn coastal erosion Groyne on the beach at Hornsey in East Yorkshire. Liked the colour and texture of the wood against the bright blue sky.

After our clothes have been worn, they are tossed into the linen basket ready to be washed.

I took three shirts out of my wardrobe and hung them up ready to pack for a trip away, and decided they were rather photogenic

…..for the ballet Sylvia. The dress takes the form of an imperial Russian classical 19th century tutu with a panelled pink bodice. The skirt is made of white net overlayed in pink satin with gold wire embroidery in a Greek ‘key pattern’. Darcey loved the role which enabled her to showcase a complex woman who was a strong leader, a warrior and a woman who falls in love.

This rather unusual post box was spotted in Fort Cochin. I wondered how long it had been in service as it was looking almost as battered as the door behind it.

Taken on Sandsend Beach- this little weathered groyne post had a great shape n texture. Worn into a smooth U shape by the tide n weather.

This very weather beaten beach hut caught my eye on a recent blowy walk along our 7 mile stretch of coast in Essex. The fading colours seemed to mirror the ever changing sky.

Several old fishing boats have been abandoned on Fleetwood Marsh, next to the River Wyre. This is a popular place for photography because you can walk up to each boat. Take care and go with a friend, just in case you too get stuck in the mud!
