Our theme for August 2022 was 'Liquid'. Thank you so much for everyone who took the time to get experimental with their entries, the creativity here really shows! We look forward to some more fabulous photos on the theme of celebration for next month.

'What a Drip' by John Hayes, Balsall Common u3a

'What a Drip' by John Hayes, Balsall Common u3a

I wanted to capture dripping water. However I wanted something different so I applied 2 colour filters to the flashes

'Condensed Beauty' by Angela Owen, Worcester Area u3a

'Condensed Beauty' by Angela Owen, Worcester Area u3a

This beautiful image is of bubbles of liquid condensed on the side of a glass. It is a photo of my iced drink with a slice of red grapefruit, held up to the sky, and was taken on one of our hottest days. The drink was pretty good too.

'A Sanderling On The Seafront' by Graham Mee, Leigh Estuary u3a

'A Sanderling On The Seafront' by Graham Mee, Leigh Estuary u3a

Dashing in and out of the waves. One of my favourite little birds and I love watching them feed right on the shoreline dashing in and out of the incoming tide. We usually get a winter flock of 300 to 400 that come to us from their High Arctic breeding grounds.

'Raindrops On A Spiders Web' by Rita Miles, Pembroke u3a

'Raindrops On A Spiders Web' by Rita Miles, Pembroke u3a

The raindrops on a spiders web, reminded me of a diamond necklace.

'Reflections of Autumn' by Eric Ladbury, Long Eaton u3a

'Reflections of Autumn' by Eric Ladbury, Long Eaton u3a

View of the autumn foliage on the opposite side of the lake reflected in the lake in "The Dingle" a public park in the centre of Shrewsbury, showing the bright colours sunlit and reflected onto the surface of the lake's ripples across the water's surface.

'S P L A S H!' by Richard Wimbush, Norton Radstock u3a

'S P L A S H!' by Richard Wimbush, Norton Radstock u3a

When I saw the topic of liquid it seemed a good opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and try a new technique. After lots of shots this one was the best.

'Water Feature With A Twist' by Ian Weatherley of Witham & District (Essex) u3a

This striking whirlpool water feature is one of a number that can be enjoyed at the beautiful Alnwick Garden in Northumberland.

The fountain at Pittville Park, Cheltenham.

'Paint In A Vase' by Janet Rutter, Devizes & District u3a

'Paint In A Vase' by Janet Rutter, Devizes & District u3a

Whilst getting the paints out for visiting grandchildren, I felt inspired to pour some paint into a square vase and watch the result. Very interesting patterns were created and everyone was different!! Strict discipline was required to clean out the vase for every single shot!! A very enjoyable interlude.

'Rocky Shore' by Cath Simpson, Wigan u3a

'Rocky Shore' by Cath Simpson, Wigan u3a

Water in motion - a long exposure shot of waves breaking against rocks at Portpatrick in Galloway.  Keeping the shutter open for 20 seconds to turn the splash of the waves into a smooth misty blur, that looks calm even on this very rough day.

'Badger Falls' by Paul Wallace, Sutton Coldfield u3a

'Badger Falls' by Paul Wallace, Sutton Coldfield u3a

I love to visit and photograph Badger Falls near Wolverhampton. They are in a quiet secluded location on the edge of a chocolate box village, yet only a few miles from the West Midlands and Black Country.

'Aysgarth Falls' by Alex Svenson, Sherburn & Village u3a

'Aysgarth Falls' by Alex Svenson, Sherburn & Village u3a

An exercise in long exposure photography to achieve the silky waterfall effect taken during our Sherburn and Villages u3a's Photographic Adventures Group outing. This was when there was torrents of water, unlike in the last few weeks when this waterfall was dry.

'Liquid Refreshment' by Gill Wallis, Sutton Coldfield u3a

'Liquid Refreshment' by Gill Wallis, Sutton Coldfield u3a

The image was taken at RHS Hyde Hall recently, on the same day that a drought was declared. While loving the effect produced by the automatic sprayer, I was concerned that such a large amount was being used, so I sought out a member of staff.  It turns out that the garden has its own reservoir and would not need to call on any supplies from the public supply system.  I wonder how long we shall continue to enjoy large display gardens in their present style?

'Fun in a Heatwave' by Jackie Rea, Ems Valley u3a

'Fun in a Heatwave' by Jackie Rea, Ems Valley u3a

Took a bit of being a contortionist to press shutter and puncture the balloon, one patch of grass is a bit greener than the rest!!

'Overflowing Glass' by Peter Calver, Balsall Common u3a

'Overflowing Glass' by Peter Calver, Balsall Common u3a

Always interested in capturing images of liquids whether overflowing a glass or over waterfalls.
