I couldn't resist taking a photograph of these yachts whilst taking part in the blackwater Barge and Smack Race
This painting was inspired by watching runners in a park running through blossom. Running or walking is a sport that is free and is an easily accessible form of exercise that can improve your well being.
Angler in a local river. Watercolour. I’m not very good at figures.I suppose angling IS a sport.
My husband is a devoted Rugby fan, so I see quite a lot of the game one way or another. This is painted in acrylics on Bristol board .
I spend a lot of time by the coast and these yachts are preparing for their racing season.
The Gentle Sport of Fly Fishing. Pen & ink with watercolour
By the pool in Gouache.
I was in the mood for painting a bucolic scene so I thought a croquet game would work nicely for the "Sport" theme.
Lizards I paint are in a race. If only they wouldn't try to eat each other on the way to the winning post!
I was originally inspired by a painting in an office just of 4 colourfully clad women from hips down. Over a period of time I took some photographs of groups of people in different environments and began to paint my own 'Leg Studies'. 'Cycling Legs' is based on photos from an Ovo Women's race that happened to pass our front garden. I found the bikes particularly difficult to portray.
Nothing better than watching people having fun!
As boating and fishing are considered sport have included this river watercolour.
Not a sport that I would ever have the courage to try. It is just amazing to see how the boats rush across the waves against the wind.
