I am a retired MoD scientist living in Herefordshire. Having been uninspired by history at school, I have appreciated its joys more and more, with particular interest in the key characters that provide the highlights in the story.

James Boswell

James Boswell achieved his lasting fame as biographer of the great Samuel Johnson. Since the 20th century discovery of his journals and letters we have discovered the details of a fascinating character and his life story.
