A chance discovery in a 2nd-hand bookshop in Oxford led to Ian’s long-term study of the Hittites and their contemporaries (such as New Kingdom Egypt) in the Late Bronze Age in the ancient Near East. Since he has written about them and led weekend course and given talks for over thirty years.

An illustrated introduction to the cultures and countries of the Late Bronze Age in the ancient Near East. The people of New Kingdom Egypt, the Hittites, Middle Assyria, Mittanni, Babylonia, Elam and the city-states of Mycenæan Greece and the Levant will be explored regarding their life & culture.
