Peter Atkinson
Stokesley and District u3a, Yorkshire & the Humber
I'm a retired engineer who is now attempting to understand all the stuff I should have understood whilst studying for my physics degree way back in the late 1960's. Hopefully I can now explain some aspects of modern physics to others.

Is Everything Relative?
We explore the thoughts and insights of Albert Einstein in a non-mathematical way as he developed his "Theory of Special Relativity", exploring why everything is relative and what it means to say the speed of light is constant. This leads to amazing conclusions about the nature of time and space.

Gravity
I aim to explain why gravity is not quite what it seems, how mass curves space and time, why things don't really fall to the ground but rather the ground comes up and hits them! All made clear (I hope) without maths, but instead by combining four simple ideas to reveal the true nature of gravity
