Born in Tyrone, spent my forty year career in technology, travelled extensively across Europe, Middle East, USA. Since my retirement, I have written two books on the Battle of the Somme and the Irish Civil War, in the series "Andy Symington: Tyrone's Most Wanted Man." I also operate the Churchwatch programme which cares for a beautiful, old Buckinghamshire church.

The Irish War of Independence in Rural Communities

An untold story of my grandfathers exploits in the IRAs 2nd Northern Division in the War of Independence against Britain. Guerilla warfare, spies, informants, internment, police murder gangs, assassinations and the contrasting role of Irish & English women in the conflict.

The Parish Church of Chalfont St Giles is almost 900 years old and if its walls could talk, here are some of the secrets they would reveal. A museum, an art gallery and a fulcrum of local history. The talk will entertain and leave you saying "I didnt know that!"
