You can go ahead and use paper cases but it’s best to double them up for more support.

Could Beverley recommend an air fryer for a senior couple with smaller appetites?

Beverley recommends Instant vortex plus six or instant vortex slim. These are both 5.7litres.

Can you just cook frozen meals in it?

Yes you can. Please follow the instructions on the pack.

Why do my scones or rock cakes get soggy when I cook them in my Air Fryer?

You need to turn them over for the last minute or so. It happens because there is no base element.

Can chips be cooked from potatoes in an air fryer?

Yes, you can do this and it is very successful. There is a good recipe on page 138 of my book.

It was noted that liners should be perforated, yet I observed the cakes were in solid silicon cups.

Treat it like a normal oven just as you would cook a cake in a tin in an over. It’s the same principle.

What brand of sprayer does she use for her oil?

I recommend buying one from either Lakeland or amazon. Both stock a good selection.

Can I use metal utensils and trays in my air fryer, or should I only use silicone implements?

If you use a silicone liner this protects the basket or drawer. However if the manufacturer tells you not to use metal please follow their instructions. Yes, metal tins are fine in my experience.

I noticed your biggest airfryer was under a kitchen cupboard and wondered if the heat affected the cupboard above?

You need a 13cm gap all-round the air fryer but it can be under a kitchen cupboard.

Do you need to stand the air fryer on something to prevent heat damage to the kitchen worktops?

You don’t need to stand it on anything as it is on its own little legs which elevate it from the worktop.

Is it true that when following cooking instructions, you should lower the temperature and cooking time for the air fryer?

Yes, this is sort of correct. You get used to the appliance by trial and error and use your own discretion.

How can I clean above the electrical ring?

This is covered in my book but I have a friend who uses a special toothbrush for getting in behind the element. You could make a paste of baking soda and warm water, leave for an hour, before rinsing well with a warm cloth.

Can I put metal accessories like cake tins directly into the air fryer basket, or will it scratch the non-stick surface?

It’s just like using an ordinary oven, You can do it with care and discretion. Beverley uses them all the time without any problem and she hopes you will be OK as well.

What is the best way to steam vegetables in the air fryer?

Put about 1/4 inch boiling water into drawer. Add veg to basket. Spread out as much as possible. Air fry at 200C for about 10 minutes, shaking after 5 minutes
