Learning in the u3a movement

The Northallerton u3a photography group had a monthly theme of water so rather than take a picture of a stream or lake i decided to try to do something different and ended up playing with refraction

While walking up to black rock Cromford Derbyshire in mid November I came across this arrangement of leaves and was reminded that change is different for everyone

On a recent trip to Salisbury Cathedral I took this image of the wonderful Baptismal Font, created by the English Sculptor William Pye. It struck me that each child, or indeed adult, that receives purification and consecration from this ancient water ritual transitions from one state of being to another.

This unusual sculpture caught my eye especially with its Ukrainian colours. Taken on my iPhone

I love the bluebell season and the many beautiful shots we all get . Here is my take on a woodland scene in local woodland

A new church building erected in the ruins of an older building is a symbol of new life transitioning out of the old. A site that has been a place of Christian worship for centuries found a new shelter in the presence of the old.

Looking around I couldn't help notice the large number of Dandelions this year. Also how they go through three stages of transition, Bud-Flower-Seedhead. So off out into the garden and I cut these three specimens. Laid out on a 'Light-pad' and photographed with my mobile phone. Great fun.

Taken on a windy day in St Andrews, Fife. I love the transitions the wind and water make .Water to waves. Splashes to spray. Sea to shore…… ever changing.

The almighty sun giving life, warmth and light Battles against the elements as day transitions into night. With a westerly facing garden and an open sky the setting sun gives wonderful opportunities to capture magnificent examples of the powers of nature evoking and inspiring powerful thoughts of life on earth. The ever changing elements and sky scapes can get me running for my camera whenever I can.

Despite not being that warm it was nonetheless lovely to see this early May sunshine and to step out into this delightful walled garden on a recent excursion.

This tree stump has been turned into a lovely sculpture seat featuring squirrels, an oak leaf and acorns.

The sky in transition with changes in colour and contrast.

This photo was taken in my daughter's garden in New Zealand one one of our visits there. The whole process from egg to adult takes about a month and is reliant upon Swan plants as the Monarch butterfly will only lay its eggs on these.
