This little spider seems to have worked itself into a mess. Perhaps some knitting lessons wouldn't go amiss.

At first sight these small but eye-catching limbs look slightly gruesome, but are figure parts used in the past to make porcelain figures and are on display in The Museum of Making in Derby.

A low stone wall surrounding a local church is covered in ivy and moss. A low sun shone through the seed heads of this moss, inviting me to mess around with a macro lens to capture their translucent beauty.

It sat and watched me while I took it's picture.

I took this photo on a visit to the Westcountry Wildlife Photography Centre. It poured down all day but this image of the tiny harvest mouse was worth every moment.

This cricket, which I believe is a Roesel’s Bush-cricket, was seen on the top a bright red rubbish bin in the grounds of Castle Ashby Gardens in Northampton.

Small but very useful and available in many colours and sizes. The clips were in a small box on the table and I liked the way they reflected the light from the desk lamp.

Early one morning this August, I awoke to dew sparkling on my lawn in the early sunshine. Amongst the longer grass, I noticed a Small White butterfly that had been resting overnight. A drop of dew had formed on the insects left eye and magnified the structure beneath. I quickly set up my camera and macro lens on a tripod and was able to photograph the butterfly without disturbing it. I used a 15 image stack to obtain the depth of focus required to render detail across the whole of the butterfly. By the time I'd finished my breakfast, the butterfly had dried out and flown away.

Had great fun setting this up and took the photo on my mobile phone. The idea of fishermen fishing in a tin of Mackerel fillets (my lunch that day) appealed to me. The figures are actually used for model railway scenes.
