I took an early morning walk along the canal in Hebden Bridge earlier this year. The weather was freezing with a heavy frost and I was struck by the impact the frost had on the landscape, it seemed to emphasise every detail in the landscape.

Graffiti is one of my favourite subjects, specially when I can understand the meaning of it. In March 2018 a goods train carrying 400Tn. of coal overshot the buffers and crashed destroying three houses in Crook Street, Bolton (fortunately no-one was hurt). The Graffiti Artist "Kazer" skillfully reproduced the impact of the crash with his design on the reconstructed building.

I saw this piece of street art in Toronto. When I saw it the impact on my imagination was instant. Who thought of the idea, how was it made, did it impact on other pedestrians passing by. The fact that the car was exiting the building made it even more realistic.

This locomotive never fails to make an impact wherever it goes. This shot was taken on the East Lancashire Railway when it was running trials after its major overhaul a few years ago. It was still needing its nameplate and coat of green paint.

Puerto Madero is Buenos Aires's equivalent of Liverpool's Albert Dock. The old dock buildings remain on one side of the linked dock basins, while the other now comprises a number of modern glass and steel structures. In the reflections can be made out old cranes and red brick warehouses. These patterns and colours caught my eye and made quite an impact!

This photo was taken last autumn at Elan Valley, Wales, when the water level was high and in full flow.

Helmcken Falls is a stunning waterfall located in Wells Gray Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of the most famous and iconic waterfalls in the province. The waterfall drops from a height of approximately 141 meters (463 feet), and 75 feet wide making it one of the highest waterfalls in Canada. Helmcken Falls is fed by the Murtle River and is surrounded by rugged canyon walls. The waterfall is named after John Sebastian Helmcken, a doctor and politician who played a significant role in the establishment of British Columbia as a Canadian province.

I was looking out of the kitchen stable door with my camera and 300mm lens when this female sparrowhawk landed right in front of me with a starling. It stayed plucking the feast, which was still alive, for quite some time so I had plenty of photographic and filming opportunities.
